R2D2

OK, so the photography skills are mediocre, the lighting is horrible and my frosting skills leave a lot to be desired.
But I think he's charming and more importantly my soon to be four year old had a smile plastered from ear to ear.
It's Jack's birthday tomorrow, and while it's just us and Nana (and a whole lot of chauffeuring between preschool, kindergarten and ferry) we are going to celebrate.
Now to get them to bed so T and I can do some present assembly.

Blue Skies and Bread Crusts

This past weekend held some of those rare glorious winter days that keep you going the rest of the month.

Amazing blues of the sky and water, squinting in the low bright winter sun. Rosy cheeks and cold noses.

We fed the ducks at the marina. Well not so much the ducks as the seagulls. Poor ducks didn't stand a chance.

And I was thankful, once again, for this little slice of heaven that we get to call home. Blue skies, bread crusts and family. What could be better?

All Aboard

During the last week of school before the holidays,  Mrs. S read the kindergarten class "The Polar Express".

Anna was utterly captivated, and we have been re-creating this magical train ride in our living room, on a near daily basis, ever since.

At eight seats, with only one or two passengers per seat, her express has an intimate, boutique feel.
All guests receive pillows, blankets, snacks, crafts and on board entertainment.

With Anna's attention to detail and guest satisfaction, the Orient Express may find themselves slipping in the ranks of great train journeys.

Happy New Year

The littles had been looking forward to New Year's Day for one reason.
Mass destruction of the gingerbread ski chalet.
A joyful flattening of all our hard work.

There was only one slip up during the long month of temptation sitting on the counter.
On Boxing Day, when I came downstairs to find Anna with a tree in her hand, crumbs on her face and the excuse of "Sorry Mama, I guess I got a little confused.".

I'm hoping that beginning the year with sugar fueled happiness is a good omen for the rest of year.
It sure beats a hangover anyways.

Best Wishes for a wonderfully sweet New Year from the Purple Starfish Gang.
